FED:High Court to rule on Malaysia swap deal=2

The court on Tuesday finished hearing the arguments of refugee lawyers, who say the
so-called Malaysia solution - which would see 800 asylum seekers sent there from Australia
- is unlawful and should be struck down.

The lawyers argued Malaysia was an inappropriate destination to send asylum seekers,
because it had no legal obligations to protect them.

They also argued sending unaccompanied minors to Malaysia would contravene the government's
guardianship duties.

Chief Justice Robert French said the court would reserve its decision on the case until
August 31 at 2.15pm (AEST).
