Fed: NAB announces fire assistance package

National Australia Bank customers affected by the Christmas bushfires can get cheap
interest rates and escape home loan fees under a special relief package.

Fires circling Sydney since Christmas Eve have destroyed about 160 homes, leaving hundreds
of families homeless.

National customers who have lost property in the fires can apply for:

* a suspension of home loan repayments;

* waiving fees and costs for early withdrawal of term deposits;

* waiving home loan and personal loan application fees;

* low honeymoon home loan rates for existing customers;

* a discount rate of 6.5 per cent on fixed rate personal loans;

* waiving establishment fees for restructuring business loans; and

* credit card relief.

National Australia Bank branches are also collection points for donations to the New
South Wales Bushfires Disaster Relief Fund.
